Welcome to the Sunny South Dallas Food Park!

This space is all about curating space for Black joy in public and private space while building an ecosystem for Black-owned businesses to thrive! We've curated our space to surge community involvement in the way urban planning determines the spaces Black people occupy and utilize on a regular basis. We are a semi-permanent project that came out of the original project, the MLK Food Park, aiming to create a space that the community can access on a regular basis in South Dallas. We are focusing on curating a space that promotes community love beyond just food - it's all about providing better access to community services, resources, and BETTER FOOD CHOICES!
We are dedicated to crafting the essence of what a Black Third Place looks/feels like! With that our intention is to become a PERMANENT sustainable space in South Dallas that functions as a community-owned grocer! Food apartheid is a serious challenge in South Dallas, which we believe is a key component that contributes to an enhanced quality of life, and through the food park we've seen the influx of mobile food businesses pour into the community. The big question is: how do we keep them (and other quality businesses) in South Dallas for every day access?
This is our element of providing access to better, healthier food choices, QUALITY everyday services, opportunity to provide jobs/economic vitality, and access to true community ownership of a space that reinvests into the space. Owned by the community and designed by the community! Join us at our next food park and be a apart of our long term plan to bring this vision to life!
